My husband just looks at it with a sick expression. I have spent the past few days organizing my floss and putting the bobbins into the little plastic containers. And went through my DMC color checklist and marked off all the colors that I have (that I have found thus far). Now keep in mind I have 2 projects I need to finish. BUT now I feel like I have to finish the organizing. So tonight, momma froffie will be going home and taking back over the wooden toy box her grandfather made her so many years ago. It currently has some random toys in it of my daughters but I figure, she hasn't played with them in ages so they will probably go in the goodwill bag.

And it will get done tonight. If I have to stay up all night and get organized I will. I'll be sure to take and post pictures of the madness.

Keeping myself busy

I spent most of yesterday at the hospital as my 4o year old sister had a hysterectomy. It was a very productive day for me and my cross stitch. My current work in progress is a hello kitty ballerina for my daughter. I want to make it into a pillow. But it is quite close to being complete.

So today, I was searching new patterns on the web and came across a pattern by Dolly Mamas. The "Is It Hot In Here" pattern. The Dolly Mamas patterns are some of my favorites. I have purchased several just because I can't resist them. So I got to thinking, this pattern would be perfect for my sister who has been and will be having hot flashes. Some of you might think this is mean and callous but she has a sense of humor like I do and will think it is funny. So my little red car will be headed to AC Moore tonight in hopes of finding this pattern so I can get to work on it ASAP. This is one that I will for sure take pictures of periodically. I can't wait to get started and I only wish I had thought of it sooner.

I seem to be lagging behind

First off, the bears and flag project has been put away. Vacation was fun but trying, from there I went straight into Vacation Bible School, it ends tonight and I still don't have a "free" evening until Tuesday! I'm pooped. I still have quite a bit to do to finish the new project, I'm too tired to even think, and I think I'm getting an ear infection and haven't managed to find time to call the doctor. And she isn't in on Friday. Plus I have to do laundry, put it away and find time to grocery shop.

But I will finish her gift by her birthday which is Sunday. It is hard to believe a week has already passed. Anyhow, here is this week's question:

This week’s SBQ was suggested by Vash and is:

What is the biggest mishap you have had with your stitching material (i.e. spillages)?

I tend to be anxious when going on vacation because I want to take all my stitching materials. I have this HUGE bag that I used to fill up with my crafty items and always toted it on vacation with me. Keyword being used to.

Several years ago on a beach trip, I had several items with me that I was working on in the bag I just mentioned. I drink iced tea all the time in the summer so one day at the beach, I was sitting, drinking my iced tea on the deck, watching the ocean and the most horrific thing happened. I knocked my iced tea into my bag of stitching. I mean, this bag was HUGE with several projects in it. I screamed in horror as I turned the bag upside down and dumped the contents onto the porch. Of course only my mom cross stitches so only she could appreciate what a tragedy this could be. And it was considering that several items ended up being stained. I guess I gave a new concept of tea dying that day!

SBQ Question of the Week

What do you do with your charts once you’ve stitched them? I don't have any formal means of organizing them (however, that might be a good idea) but I have all my charts somewhat together in various baskets in my house. I've been working to clean up the craft room/family room so that I can better organize my stitching stuff.

My next project....

I haven't made a ton of progress on the bears but I am still working on them. But the evil Mother (my mom really isn't evil, I love her dearly) forced me into Michael's today and they were putting out some new kits. My 3 year old loves mermaids so I got this pattern "The Mermaid" to make for her once the bears are finished.

Luckily though, no other patterns but the mermaid caught my eye and I am forcing myself to put it away until the bears are done.

Yeah, I'm hopeless.

SBQ - Question of the Week

This week’s SBQ is:

Have you ever used a magnifying glass while stitching? I have some days off and down time, mixed in with vacation before then so I hope to get it finished. Keep in mind I'm ADD stitcher and sometimes don't seem to get anything accomplished.

Here's a pic of what it is:

And well, this is what I have done (I started today and didn't get to work on it that long).

I think I can. I spend hours and hours reading and searching blogs and have discovered there's a lot of stitching blogs out there and that's right up my alley.

I'm 30 years old and love to cross stitch and love to embroidery. I'm the queen of unfinished projects. I have stitching A.D.D. Mid-project something might catch my eye so I will run (not walk) to the nearest supply store to start the new, more exciting project.

I don't know really how long I have been stitching. Probably around 15 years but that would put me back in high school and I have no recollection of having any such hobby back then. Had I stitched in those days, it would have made those long band trips much more bearable. (Yes I was a band geek). So to be more accurate, I think it is safe to say I started stitching in college (10 years ago).

Here's my sad confession. I stitched probably quite a lot back in those days and the first 2 things I ever finished were about 5 years ago for my mother.

I've never taken a picture of anything I've stitched but the talented ladies I have come across the past few weeks have inspired me. I am awe of all the talent I have seen.

For the past year I've been a member of our local chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America. Our chapter is TANA which stands for Tri-Area Needlearts Assosciation. There too, I have met many talented ladies and hope to learn from them.

Anyhow, my goal this weekend (other than stitching) I will take some pictures and post them to share. Hopefully posting pictures and blogging about what I am working on will inspire me to finally follow through with what I start. I know just by reading the other blogs here I have been quite inspired already!
